NOMMAI · LOCAL AI
Privacy Policy
What stays on your phone, and what uses a network.
Who this policy covers
This policy describes NommAI’s native iOS and Android prototype and this website. The device app is named NommAI. It is intended for adult meal tracking and general wellness.
NommAI is developed by Danilo Canivel. A public support and privacy contact is being finalized before launch. This prototype policy is not ready for store submission until those contact details are provided.
Data used on your device
You can provide meal photos, food names, portion corrections, meal categories and dates. The app produces and can save calories, macros, original model outputs and comparison results. Optional calorie-goal setup uses age, height, weight, the selected formula coefficient, activity routine and goal. Model selections, units and comparison preferences are also stored locally.
This data supports meal estimates, your diary, model comparisons and calorie goals. In on-device mode, these photos and nutrition/profile records are not sent to NommAI or an AI inference provider. There is no automatic photo collection for training.
Camera, photo library and permissions
The camera is used when you take a meal photo. The photo picker is used when you select an image. You can decline or revoke permissions in your device settings and use manual entry instead. The app does not integrate Apple Health, Health Connect or watch heart-rate data, and does not request microphone access for meal capture.
Optional photo retention
Keeping meal photos is off by default. When you enable it, the native app saves a compressed JPEG copy in its own storage with the meal. Deleting that meal removes its saved app photo. Turning photo retention off affects future saves; it does not erase photos already saved. Original images in your photo library are separate. Temporary capture and processing files may remain in app caches until the operating system or app storage is cleared.
Model downloads and third parties
Boba model files download from Hugging Face over HTTPS. Download providers and their delivery infrastructure receive standard network information such as your IP address and requested file. Model-download requests do not include your meal photo or nutrition profile. CalorieK weights are included in the current test build. Store downloads and device services are governed by Apple or Google policies.
The current app has no advertising, account system or integrated advertising/analytics SDK. This is not a claim that operating-system diagnostics, download-provider logs or future releases collect nothing.
Website requests
This website does not ask for meal photos or profile data, and has no custom analytics, advertising or tracking code. Its hosting provider receives information needed to serve requests, such as IP address and browser/request metadata. Typography is loaded from Google Fonts, which receives font requests and connection metadata. The public website is hosted by Vercel. A separate private development preview may use its host’s sign-in and access controls. External model links take you to Hugging Face.
Hosting and font-provider handling follows their policies; NommAI has not set a verified fixed retention period for provider-managed logs. This must be reviewed before public launch.
Retention, deletion and backups
Saved meals and settings remain in app storage until changed, deleted or app data is removed. Downloaded models remain until app storage is removed; they are not user meal data. There is no developer-operated meal database to erase. Device backups may include app data, depending on your OS settings. Uninstalling is not a guarantee that existing device/cloud backups are erased.
See Delete your data for current controls, including original photos and backups.
Security and your choices
Data uses the app’s operating-system storage sandbox. The current build does not add separate application-level encryption to the diary or profile storage. Protect your device with its lock and security settings. You can use manual entry, disable future photo retention, delete meals, and revoke camera/photo permissions.
Where applicable, you may request information about, access to, correction or deletion of personal data held by the developer and contact your local data-protection authority. The developer cannot remotely read or erase a diary stored only on your phone. A working public privacy contact is required before launch.
Children and changes
NommAI is not designed for children. Automatic calorie-goal estimation is restricted to eligible adults and is not intended for pregnancy or breastfeeding. We do not knowingly collect children’s meal data through a hosted service. Any future cloud processing, accounts, health integrations, telemetry or training collection must be disclosed and reviewed before it is introduced. Policy changes will update this page and its date.
